Their were numerous media events
associated with the 1952 centennial celebration. One in particular involves the last car off the line on Friday,
February 15th, 1952, and the first car off the line for Monday, February
18th, 1952. These two
vehicles were designated to mark the end of the first 100 years of production,
and the beginning of the second.
The last car off the line Friday
happened to be a Commander hardtop.

Research done by Studebaker Drivers
Club Almanac editor Richard Quinn uncovered the serial number, 8238313.
It was Shadow green over Rio green.
The car was subsequently placed into
normal stock and delivered to Nebraska.
It’s whereabouts are unknown today.
Who knows…maybe it will turn up as a
survivor.
