The 1952 Indianapolis 500 was paced by
a beautiful Maui Blue Commander convertible.
It was the third time Studebaker had
been chosen for the honor, having done so before in 1929 and 1940.
(and would for the last time in 1962.)

In all, Studebaker had 27
complimentary vehicles involved in the event.
Not all were convertibles, there were
four doors, sedans, a few trucks, and 7 of the new hardtop style.
Studebaker Drivers Club Almanac
editor Richard Quinn wrote an article for the April 1999 issue of Turning
Wheels
in which these vehicles were
identified.
Hopefully some might still survive
and can be added to the registry.
